The meeting took as long as two hours.
"The meeting took two hours" ──
加上 "as long as" 就帶出「居然、竟然」的語氣。
"The meeting lasted two hours." ──
A: That meeting was way too long.
B: Tell me about it. Two hours for something that could've been an email.
A: Seriously. I couldn't even grab lunch on time.
B: Same here. Want to go get something quick?
A: Yeah, let's go. I'm starving.
B: Let's hope the next meeting doesn't drag on like that.
"could've been an email"(其實寄一封 email 就好了吧)──
It took me 30 minutes to get here.
句型 2:could've been ~
This could've been a great opportunity.
句型 3:drag on
The lecture dragged on for three hours.
Mimi:Two hours! That's a long meeting. Was it at least productive?
我:Not really. Most of it was off-topic.
Mimi:That's frustrating. Do you have meetings like this often?
我:Almost every week, actually.
Mimi:Yikes! Maybe you could suggest a time limit or an agenda beforehand?
took、lasted、drag on、could've been ──
